Who you are buying from

In Piazza is run by [legal name], P.IVA [VAT number], [registered address], Italy. In these terms "I" and "me" mean her, and "you" means the person who books a seat. You can reach me at [your email address].

Booking a seat means you accept these terms, the Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy.

What you are buying

Antipasto is an eight-week beginner Italian course, taught live online. It includes:

The price is $650 USD. First refusal on the next course means the offer of a seat, not a promise about its price or its dates.

Booking and payment

You reserve a seat by filling in the booking form, which costs nothing. Groups are then put together by matching the times people can make. Once your group and start date are settled you are told by email, and only then is payment taken. If no group comes together at your times, you are not charged.

Payment is in US dollars. Any charge your own bank adds for currency conversion is yours, not mine. Your seat is confirmed when payment clears; unpaid seats may be released to somebody else.

Times and attendance

Group times are set for North America and chosen from the times offered when you book. Private lessons are booked by you, in the windows open on Fridays, across the eight weeks of the course.

Lessons are live and are not recorded, so they cannot be repeated or caught up later. If you miss one, tell me as early as you can and we will cover it in your next private lesson. Private lessons not booked before the course ends are lost.

If I have to move a lesson, I will offer your group an alternative time. If I cancel the course, see the Refund Policy.

Cancelling

When you can cancel and get your money back is set out in full in the Refund Policy. In short: nothing is charged until your group is confirmed, and after that you can cancel for a full refund up to seven days before your first lesson.

Your student area

Lessons, materials, your schedule and your private lesson booking live in a student area I set up for your group. It is for you. Please do not share the link or your access with anyone else.

Course materials

The materials are mine and are licensed to you for your own learning for as long as the course runs and afterwards. You may not copy them for other people, publish them, sell them, or use them to teach. Please do not record lessons: everybody in a class of four talks more freely when they know they are not being filmed.

Behaviour in class

These are very small classes and one difficult person changes the experience for everyone. If someone is abusive, discriminatory or persistently disruptive, I may remove them from the course. In that case the fee for the remaining lessons is refunded, and nothing more.

What I promise, and what I don't

I promise to teach the lessons described here, myself, with care. I cannot promise a particular level of Italian at the end: how much you learn depends on you as much as on me.

Lessons happen online, so they depend on your internet connection and on the video service working. If a lesson is lost to a failure on my side, it is rescheduled. Beyond rescheduling, and beyond the refunds described in the Refund Policy, my responsibility to you is limited to what you paid for the course. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes

I may change these terms for courses booked in the future. The terms that apply to you are the ones on this page on the day you booked, and the date at the top tells you when they last changed.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by Italian law, and the courts of [your city], Italy, are the ones that decide any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in, and it does not stop you bringing a claim where you live.
